HMS Dauntless joins Norwegian Coastguard for helicopter winch exercise

HMS Dauntless has arrived in Stavanger, Norway, to undergo an Operational Capability Confidence Check (OCCC) in preparation for upcoming missions.
The OCCC is a critical process to ensure that the ship's combat systems are functioning within the required parameters before conducting operations, ensuring the vessel is fully prepared for any challenges ahead.
While in Norway, HMS Dauntless has already taken part in a Winchex exercise with the Norwegian Coastguard.

A Winchex is a training exercise focused on helicopter winch operations, where personnel or equipment are lifted or lowered using a winch system.
These exercises are essential training for search and rescue missions, maritime operations, and emergency evacuations.
HMS Dauntless is a Type 45 destroyer of the Royal Navy, designed primarily for air defence and equipped with advanced radar systems to track and intercept incoming threats.
The destroyer is capable of providing defence for large areas of operation, protecting carrier strike groups and amphibious forces from aerial, surface, and missile threats.
Norway's coastline, which stretches for more than 15,000 miles, is crucial for maritime security, making collaboration with nations like the UK essential for safeguarding the region's stability.
Stavanger, where HMS Dauntless arrived, is home to Nato's Joint Warfare Centre and is a hub for many exercises.
Located on the northern edge of Europe, Norway plays a vital role in Nato's security framework due to its strategic location and proximity to the Arctic.
