A Medal Ceremony With A Twist!
Medals have been presented to soldiers from Royal Scots Dragoon Guards for peacekeeping duties in Cyprus.
However this ceremony had a twist, it wasn’t just the servicemen receiving operational medals today.
Their children also received medals!
Speaking at the ceremony Lieutenant Colonel Dom Coombes, the Commanding Officer, said:
"It's tough going away for six months, it's tough on everyone but arguably where they are doing a job and getting on with it, it is really hard for the families left behind, particularly for young children who don't really understand why their mother or father is away for six months.
"I think everyone will really enjoy seeing the children get medals and there is a lot of excitement about that".
The ceremony came to a close with some icecreams being enjoyed by both young and old!
