RAF Typhoon Scrambled In Response To Russian Aircraft Over Black Sea

RAF Typhoon based in Romania has been scrambled in response to a Russian aircraft over the Black Sea.
The Russian military jets were flying west over the Black Sea, they were monitored by Typhoons in accordance with NATO enhanced Air Policing that the RAF are conducting in Romania.
Squadron Pilot, Squadron Leader Roger Cruikshank said:
"I received the order and alerted the team that we were scrambling
"Sprinting to the aircraft, my wingman, Flight Lieutenant Pilbeam, and I were able to get airborne due to incredible job the group crew did within minutes, well within our NATO approved timing, we were airborne."
They were successfully able to complete their mission.
The RAF mission was launched in Romania in 2014 to demonstrate the defensive nature of NATO and deter the threat of Russian aggression against NATO allies.
