F-35B Dazzles Crowds On Debut At Royal Navy International Air Day

The F-35B Lightning II made its debut at the Royal Navy International Air Day at RNAS Yeovilton in front of thousands of spectators.

The UK’s newest fighter jet made two flypasts and hovered for the crowds.

It joined a host of other aircraft at the annual event in Somerset, including the world’s only flying Wessex helicopter and the Spanish Armada’s sea harrier.

Many different types of aircraft were at the event.

Lieutenant Colonel Neil Brighouse, Executive Officer RNAS Yeovilton, told Forces News how much preparation had gone into the event:

“It’s a huge effort, we start planning the Air Day pretty much as the previous one finishes."

"It’s a year's worth of effort from a huge team. Military, civilian, emergency services, contractors and one thousand people here on the day – making it all happen."
