Soldiering On Awards celebrate resilience, service and support across military community

The Armed Forces Community Awards at Soldiering On, have taken place in London.

They celebrate exceptional achievements of the military community, from serving personnel to their families, veterans and those that support them.

A grand ballroom was packed with people from across the military community, with finalists recognised across 12 categories including Animal Partnership, Business Scale-Up, Community Impact and Inspiration.

Among the winners was former soldier Rick Clement, who received the Inspiration Award.

He lost both legs while serving in Afghanistan and has since raised money and campaigned in support of others.

David Dent MBE received the Lifetime Achievement Award for decades of work supporting veterans and people with disabilities.

The Open University's Disabled Veterans' Scholarships Fund won the Education, Training and Development Award, while Hounds for Heroes took home the Animal Partnership Award.

A new Connecting Society Award was also presented for the first time, going to the Veteran Friendly Framework, which works with care homes to improve support for veterans and their families.
