A World War Two veteran had his dying wish – to dance with a beautiful woman – fulfilled thanks to a Mississippi sorority.

Paul Sonnier, who is 92, was the guest at a party thrown in his honour by the Phi Mu Sorority at the University of Southern Mississippi.

The bedridden Navy veteran met the sorority’s Jessica Moreau at SouthernCare Hospice Services, where she works as an intern.

Jessica told WDAM-TV:

"He'd always ask me if I wanted to go to Ropers, the local bar. He says I'll teach you how to jitterbug and the Waltz."

Jessica said one day Paul told her his final wish would be "to dance with a beautiful woman” so she got together with her sisters in the sorority to throw him the dance of his life.

Phi Mu chapter President, Cameron Ponder, told WDAM-TV: “We as a chapter always like to get involved with the community.

“Since one of our members is a social work major at the University of Southern Mississippi, we just found this to be a great way to honor someone that has done so much for our country."

According to family members, Paul was in the Navy during the Pearl Harbor attacks and served during the Second World War.

Paul said that while he wished he could physically dance, seeing everyone around him made him feel good.

He told the local TV station:

"It feels good to be with all these beautiful women."
