Watch: Take A Tour Of The New Boxer Bridging Vehicle

The new Boxer bridging vehicle, which could become part of the British Army's arsenal, was on display at DSEI 21.

Controlled by a two-man crew – a driver and commander – the vehicle comes with a sliding 22m bridge which can be used by medium-sized military vehicles.

A 40m bridge can also be attached to the vehicle, which can then be used by a Challenger tank.

Frank Schnur, Senior Vice President of Krauss Maffei Wegmann, the manufacturer of the vehicle, told Forces News the bridge itself can be deployed "within minutes".

He added that when deploying the crossing, the crew are "under protection" – with nobody having to leave the vehicle.
