Thrills And Spills As Forces Drivers Take To Racing Circuit

The third round of the Armed Forces motorsport challenge has taken place at Cadwell Park racing circuit in Lincolnshire.

The championship is designed to give racing drivers from the Royal Navy, Army and RAF the chance to compete with each other no matter what sort of cars they drive.

Cadwell is perhaps better known as a bike circuit, and many of the forces drivers here have only been able to do a few laps.  

For the 26 cars lined up on the grid, it isn't just about who's quickest.

Because all the drivers are all in different cars and with drivers of varying experience, ranging from proven trackmen to near novices, the overall results are based on consistancy, reliablity of the car and how well the drivers qualify.

It's also about developing a level of professionalism, both in the paddock and on the track.

The RAF are furthest down the track in terms of team development, which gave them the advantage in this season's four-round Armed Forces Championship.

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines are the least experienced. They entered seven cars, and are using this season as a learning experience.
