Trainee Gurkhas start 'new journey' after Catterick training

Trainee Gurkha riflemen have taken the next step in their careers by participating in the Kassam Khane Parade.

After completing their training in Catterick, riflemen of 1st Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles took turns pledging their allegiance to the crown and their regiment by touching the Queen’s Truncheon.

Usually this ceremony takes place shortly after recruits join, but COVID delays have meant some trainees had already deployed to Kosovo.

Rifleman Asha Dulacac said his journey from Nepal had "finally" ended, adding: "Now we’re going to start another new journey in our regiment."
