Known to many as Pancake Day, today marks Shrove Tuesday.
Traditionally it marks the start of Lent, a season in the Christian calendar where many give up one of their favourite perishables for six weeks in the lead up to Easter.
Every year families, including the military, get out their frying pans and ladles to make a heap load of pancakes.
And this year the Armed Forces definitely did not disappoint...
The Army's Royal Welsh Pancake Recipe
For this 'Royal Welsh Recipe' you will need:
- 2 large eggs
- 300ml milk
- 100g plain flour
- 1tsp of sunflower or vegetable oil
- Syrup
- Bananas
- Chocolate
For your basic pancake: whisk the eggs, milk and flour into a bowl until it forms a smooth batter.
Heat a frying pan with a teaspoon of oil. Once it is hot, add some of your mixture to the pan.
After all of the bubbles from the mixtures have gone, turn the pancake over.
Once cooked on both sides, it's time to serve up and add your toppings to your pancake!
And it did not stop there, as other regiments soon got behind 'Operation Batter Gate'.
