US Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

The US military says a soldier has been killed in Afghanistan.

In a brief statement, they did not provide details on the identity of the soldier or the time or place of death.

It is the second American fatality this month, bringing the number of US soldiers to die in the country this year, to nine.

In a separate incident, it has also been reported that two Afghan soldiers died when their helicopter caught fire after making an emergency landing in the southern Kandahar province.

Defense Ministry spokesman Ghafor Ahmad Jawad said a technical problem was to blame.

The Taliban claim to have shot it down.
