WATCH: Dash Cam Footage Shows Car's 'Close Call' With Army Helicopter
A motorist has said that he had a “lucky escape” after an unexpected close call with a British Army helicopter on a country lane.
Brian Weatherall, 45, was driving over Kirkstone Pass in the Lake District with his family when the aircraft emerged suddenly from thick fog, forcing him to slam on the breaks.
Video footage taken from the vehicle’s dash cam shows a dark image of the aircraft passing within meters of the car, almost skimming a stone wall in the process.
An Army spokesman has confirmed the aircraft was conducting routine training.

Describing the incident, civil engineer Brian said:
"I just couldn't believe it, I've never seen anything like it.
"I was on holiday at the time and the roads were bad, so I was taking it steady on the steep hill.
"It happened about 2pm and I had the whole family in the car, it really was quite something - and a lucky escape."
Brian said that despite the near miss, it was “pretty awesome” to see the helicopter up close.
He added: "It does make you feel safe when you see how our forces can fly a helicopter."
The British Army has been contacted for comment.
