
British and American paras make combined drop into Estonia on Ex Swift Response

British paras jumped into action in Estonia alongside some of their airborne counterparts from the US Army as part of Exercise Swift Response, which is part of Nato's Steadfast Defender.
Nearly 100 members of 3rd Battalion the Parachute Regiment and the 82nd Airborne Division were deployed as part of Nato's largest exercise since the Cold War.
"British paratroopers from 3rd Battalion the Parachute Regiment were deployed at Nurmsi Airfield," said the Estonian Defence Force. The soldiers had jumped from a US Air Force C-17 Globemaster.
Sixteen Air Assault Brigade Combat Team said Swift Response showed how Nato airborne forces could work together to rapidly reinforce their allies.
Footage circulated showing dozens of troops dropping from the sky.
The jump was conducted under the spring segment of Exercise Swift Response, which was performed under Nato's Exercise Steadfast Defender.
The paratroopers worked alongside the Estonian armed forces to practise rapid enhancement capabilities and strengthen international cooperation between both countries.
During Nato's Exercise Swift Response, soldiers from 3 Para have also conducted trench warfare and live fire exercises.
Hundreds of British troops are taking part in the exercise, which is being carried out across Europe.
