In 2024 the UK will match or exceed the amount of military support it gave Ukraine this year, the Foreign Secretary has announced.

Lord Cameron said the UK would continue to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia, although he was unable to give an exact amount.

"I don't have the figure here for what 2024 will provide," he told the House of Lords.

"All I can say is we are absolutely committed to continuing to support Ukraine at the level or even ahead of what we have done."

Lord Cameron added: "One of the things the UK has done, and I pay tribute to my successes as a prime minister in this, is always being ahead of the game.

"Lots of people were worried about giving them NLAW anti-tank missiles. We went ahead and did that. Then others did.

"Lots of people were worried about giving support in terms of tanks. We did it and others followed.

"Same again with long-range artillery. Crucially, the same again with the Storm Shadow missiles."

He also called for British defence firms to do more to arm Ukraine.

Lord Cameron said mobilising the UK defence industry to produce the stocks needed, rather than simply running down stocks, would be a more suitable approach to take.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba made similar comments when he called on the defence industries of Europe to align into 'one holistic complex' during the Nato-Ukraine Council meeting in Brussels.
