HMS Queen Elizabeth arrives on the Forth ahead of vital repair work to propeller

Watch: HMS Queen Elizabeth in the Firth of Forth as she makes her way to Rosyth

HMS Queen Elizabeth has arrived on the Forth ahead of repair work in Fife.

The £3bn aircraft carrier is to undergo work to her starboard propeller shaft coupling at Rosyth Dockyard – where construction on the ship was completed in 2017.

The ship left Portsmouth earlier in March before stopping off in Glen Mallan in Loch Long where a fire broke out on board.

A Royal Navy spokesperson said the fire was brought quickly under control and did not impact on the ship’s commitments.

HMS Queen Elizabeth was due to take part in the Exercise Steadfast Defender - Nato's biggest exercise in decades - but was replaced by her sister ship HMS Prince of Wales.
