1 MERCIAN Put Through Their Paces

1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment (1 MERCIAN) soldiers have been training on Salisbury Plain today ahead of a two-month deployment to Canada.

1 MERCIAN were watched in their training by the General Officer Commanding 3 UK Division, Major General Patrick Sanders.

Amid the training, one of their own was recognized for his bravery in Afghanistan.

Private John Payat-Payne was awarded the Queen's Commendation for Bravery.
