British and American snipers have been sharpening their skills whilst on exercise in California.

Personnel from the First Fusilier snipers have been working alongside the US Army's 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division Raider Brigade.

The First Fusiliers said on X that Special Forces personnel were also part of the training at Fort Irwin.

Located in southern California, Fort Irwin National Training Center is the US Army's largest training centre and is so big that Salisbury Plain could fit inside it eight times.

BFBS Forces News recently spent time with Royal Marines who were trying to become scout snipers.

With two attempts to get it right, the Royal Marines must perfect their long-range precision with the L115 A3 sniper rifle.

They then move on to the skills module run by the Commando Training Centre, which is made up of four parts – mobile observation, static observation, map stance and stalking.
