British Paratrooper Suffers Critical Injuries
A British paratrooper has suffered critical injuries in a parachute accident. The incident occurred in the United States where the Army was undertaking the biggest Allied airborne landing exercise in nearly 20 years.
The 'Joint Forcible Entry' mission or JOAX, is taking place in North Carolina.
The unnamed soldier was knocked unconscious after bumping into another soldier while exiting an aircraft above Fort Bragg. Military sources have told Forces TV that he then landed “very badly”.
Some 2,100 British and American troops were involved in the mass simultaneous parachute drop - with around 950 personnel coming from 3 PARA Battlegroup, part of the UK's 16 Air Assault Brigade.
Now on the ground the paratroopers are undergoing several further days of intense combat missions in the North Carolinian wilderness.
