Cameron: British Troops to Train Ukraine Army

The House of Commons has been debating the decision to send British military personnel to Western Ukraine to train and advise the country's armed forces.

The announcement was made by the Prime Minister yesterday, with around 75 UK troops set to depart in the next few weeks.

Labour said it supports the deployment but that the public will want to know the 'strategic rationale behind the decision'.

But some politicians voiced concerns about so called 'mission creep'.

Meanwhile, there has been more fighting in Eastern Ukraine, again dampening hopes that heavy weapons will be withdrawn from the frontline in accordance with a peace agreement.

It comes amid comments from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who said an 'apocalyptic' all-out war was 'unlikely'.

Emma Nelson reports.
