First World War Horses Celebrated In Swaythling

One hundred wooden horses have been placed at a Southampton railway station to commemorate the hundreds of thousands of horses that passed through in the First World War.

Swaythling Remount Depot, which opened in 1914, was the largest of the four depots in England.

Schoolchildren from the area have helped to create the display which was unveiled to the public this week.
