Irish Guards mascot Seamus celebrates Second World War veteran's 100th birthday

Seamus the Irish Guards' regimental mascot, made a special trip to see a Second World War veteran who served with the Irish Guards, to celebrate his 100th birthday.
The Irish wolfhound, officially named Turlough Mór, visited the home of William Cecil Denny (Jim) to honour his special day.
He was joined by Second Lieutenant Fell, Drummer Dean, and Piper Bell who gave a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday on the bagpipes.
Seamus is currently on a tour of Northern Ireland where he has been also meeting some of the Irish Guards Army Cadet detachments - the Mini Micks.
He is the 17th regimental mascot of the Irish Guards and was acquired from his breeder in North Yorkshire in October 2020.
After spending four weeks with his handler at the Defence Animal Training Centre at Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, he officially joined the regiment.
As part of his training, he was familiarised with military music and the Regimental Band of the Irish Guards.
Seamus lives alongside the guardsmen and attends recruiting events and ceremonial occasions.
Last year he led the Irish Guards Massed Pipes and Drums and the Senior Officer Cohort to Buckingham Palace Garden for the King's coronation military procession.
