Rowing and Athletics among the big winners at the 2024 Army Sports Awards

The Army Sports Awards took place in a ceremony at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst

The British Army have celebrated their best sportsmen and women in their annual sports awards ceremony at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

The Army Sportswoman of the Year was awarded to Army Athletics star Lieutenant Kate Olding, who enjoyed a successful season on the track, road and in cross country.

The young officer was nominated alongside ice hockey player Signaller Jess Sprules and cricket player Lance Corporal Shema Wright-Quashie.

Army Sportsman of the Year is Olympic rower Corporal Stephen Cox, who was the sole competitor for Zimbabwe at this year's Olympic Games in Paris where he competed in the men's single sculls.

He won the award over fellow nominees tennis player Major Ben Rogers and modern pentathlete Lieutenant Sam Curry.

The Army Rugby Union team won Team of the Year, after their unforgettable clash against the Royal Navy at Twickenham.

The Rising Star award went to sharpshooter Sapper Emilia Faulkner and Official of the Year went to Ice Hockey's Corporal Andrew Cooke.

Army Football's Major Joe Collins was the winner of this year's Lifetime Achievement award.
