US Closes Bagram Prison Amidst Taliban Attacks

The US Defence Department has confirmed that it has shut its detention facility at Bagram airbase in Afghanistan.

At one time the high security prison held hundreds of detainees.

The Taliban, meanwhile, has continued its wave of attacks on the country's capital.

On Thursday at least six Afghan troops died in a suicide bombing, with another explosion at a French-run school killing several people and injuring at least 15 others, according to French officials.

Simon Newton reports.
