US: 'Significant Damage' Inflicted on IS

The US Secretary of State says airstrikes carried out against Islamic State have inflicted 'significant damage' on the group's capabilities.

John Kerry was speaking in Brussels at the first high-level meeting of the international coalition fighting IS.

It comes as the US claimed that Iran - which isn't a coalition member - had carried out strikes against IS in eastern Iraq.

The US has not invited Iran to join the coalition fighting IS and Iran has said it would not join in any case.

Iranian military leaders have acknowledged, however, that dozens of their forces have been in Iraq fighting alongside Kurdish troops battling the extremists.
