War Horses: Household Cavalry On Holkham Beach
With much of the country basking in summer sunshine the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment have swapped London for the beaches of Norfolk.
After galloping down Holkham beach it was saddles off as riders and horses took to the water to cool down.
There was however a serious side to the frolics with the horses needing to be familiar with a variety of environments. Many of the animals have never encountered soft sand and deep water before.
The training camp also allows members of the regiment to practice riding bareback - a skill that once mastered gives the rider far control of their mount.
Before cantering back to their training camp at Bodney the soldiers held a minutes silence for those who died in the Tunisia beach massacre.
