Warm welcome at homecoming parade for 1PWRR troops after two years overseas
Soldiers from 1st Battalion The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment (1 PWRR) marched through Woolwich as they returned to the UK following two years of overseas operational commitments.
The homecoming parade recognised the battalion's service most recently in Cyprus, but also in Bahrain and Jordan, as well as the support of the families who have stood behind the soldiers throughout their deployments.
Marching in ceremonial uniform to the sound of the regimental band, the troops of 1 PWRR – known as The Tigers – were welcomed through Woolwich by families, veterans, schoolchildren and other members of the local community before returning to Woolwich Barracks for a family day.
Now part of 4th Light Brigade Combat Team, known as the Black Rats, 1 PWRR will turn its attention to future training, including exercises in Estonia and Kenya next year, while continuing to develop capabilities such as its new Drones Platoon.
