Feeding a flagship: HMS Prince of Wales shares glimpse of 4,800 meals a day at sea

A time-lapse video released by HMS Prince of Wales has offered a rare look behind the scenes at the scale of daily life on board the Royal Navy's flagship.
Posted on the ship's official X account, the footage shows members of the logistics team preparing and serving thousands of meals, vacuuming the dining hall, and setting up tables with standing, intricately folded napkins.
While the sped-up footage offers only a glimpse, the underlying reality is one of constant work to keep the ship's personnel fed and operations running smoothly.

HMS Prince of Wales is currently deployed on Operation Highmast, leading the Carrier Strike Group 25 (CSG25), an eight-month mission designed to strengthen defence partnerships and demonstrate the UK’s ability to lead a modern carrier strike group globally.
Since departing in April, the group has sailed through the Mediterranean and Red Sea, conducted joint training with Nato and regional partners, and is heading towards the Indo-Pacific.
Future port calls and exercises are planned in Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Australia.
CSG25 includes British warships, air assets, and supporting vessels, alongside allies such as India, Spain and Canada.
The deployment combines military training with diplomatic engagement, making the work of the logistics teams – often unseen – all the more critical.
