Iconic Spitfire Takes To The Skies
The Spitfire has taken to the skies over Britain once again in preparation for a very special occasion. This weekend will mark 80 years since the iconic aircraft first roared to life and there will be a celebratory flypast.
The Spitfire’s ground-breaking design is credited with giving the Royal Air Force the edge over German fighters during the Battle of Britain.
It is the most famous plane of the Second World War and hero of the Battle of Britain. 20,351 were built but only around 50 are still flying.
