Mum Of Missing RAF Serviceman Appeals For Help To Find Son

The mother of a missing RAF serviceman has put out a plea for information to help find her son.

Corrie McKeague disappeared after a night out in Bury St Edmunds a few miles from his base at RAF Honington in Suffolk.

His mother, Nicola Urquhart, posted pictures of the 23-year-old on Facebook and asked “as many people as possible” to share it.

It comes after police released CCTV of the last time the missing RAF serviceman was seen at 3:23am on Saturday September 24.

The CCTV appears to show Corrie McKeague walking along the street and passing close to a group of people before he carries on.

Police say the people blurred out of the footage have been eliminated from the investigation.

It’s believed he later slept in a doorway in Brentgovel Street before moving on.

It’s thought he could have been intending to walk several miles along small, unlit, country roads home. He has not been seen or in contact with anyone since.

Police are now speaking to local taxi drivers, in an effort to build a picture of what happened next.

Royal Air Force teams have joined the search along with the National Police Air Service helicopter.

Local residents are being asked to check any outbuildings and for dog walkers and people in the countryside to get in touch if they see anything suspicious.

Anyone who may have seen him in the area is being called upon to come forward.

Mr McKeague is described as white, standing at 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build and wearing a light pink polo shirt and white jeans.

An RAF spokesperson said:
“We can confirm that an RAF serviceman from RAF Honington is currently missing; our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time."
“The Civilian Police have primacy in this matter and we understand that the investigation is ongoing. It would not be appropriate for the MOD to comment or speculate on the case at this time.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at Bury St Edmunds on 101.
