Red Arrows conduct flypast over the F1 British Grand Prix before Lando Norris secures victory

Red Arrows dart past Silverstone in latest flypast

The Red Arrows have conducted a flypast above Silverstone ahead of McLaren driver Lando Norris winning his first British Grand Prix.

Footage was released showing the jets flying high above the F1 cars, celebrities and thousands of fans.

The iconic Royal Air Force aerobatic team will be performing next, along with some more fast and vintage cars, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, before heading to the Royal International Air Tattoo and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in August.

"Speed and precision: Over Silverstone exactly on time before the F1 British Grand Prix," the Red Arrows said in a post on X.

The Formula 1 X account posted an image of the Red Arrows spraying their customary red, white and blue smoke trails.

"The Red Arrows roar past," Formula 1 said in the post to its 11.2 million followers.

It comes after the team did a flypast at Glastonbury during a controversial year for the festival, and performed at Cleethorpes alongside the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight to celebrate Armed Forces Day in northeast Lincolnshire.

Norris, 25, came through difficult conditions at the circuit near Bletchley, to close the gap at the top of the F1 driver's standings to eight points between himself and his McLaren driving partner Oscar Piastri.

"This victory is everything I dreamed of," he said. "Being on top at your home race is very, very special."

Meanwhile, Nico Hulkenberg, 37, grabbed his maiden podium finish following 239 Grand Prix starts.

The British drivers' results were more mixed beyond Norris' victory, as George Russell finished tenth and Oliver Bearman was one place below the Mercedes AMG Motorsport driver.

The Red Arrows will be performing around the UK and in Europe throughout their 60-date flying season until October.

Every pilot involved in the Red Arrows has flown operationally in frontline aircraft such as the Typhoon.

The group have been flying since 1965.
