US Marine named top student as he earns British green beret with Royal Marine Commandos

A US Marine Corps officer has been awarded the Commando Medal after putting in a superb performance on the All-Arms Commando Course run by the Royal Marines.
Captain Brown also earned the right to wear the famous green beret after completing the course.
The Royal Marines wrote online: "Captain Brown has also been awarded the top student and the Commando medal."
"Congratulations to Captain Brown USMC for passing the All-Arms Commando Course.
"Completing this course and the Commando tests, earning the right to wear the famous Commando's Green beret."
The USMC officer completed the 13-week course which includes a 12-mile weighted march, speed marches, endurance tests and exercises on the treacherous Dartmoor training area. The course has a high failure rate.

Captain Brown's award for making top student will have been decided by the training team, while the Commando Medal is voted on by his fellow students.
The medal is given to the person who best demonstrates the Commandos' qualities of courage, determination, unselfishness and a positive attitude against adversity.
The All-Arms Commando Course requires students to take part in a four-week preparation course before the training begins.
The students practise their military skills to a high level, and the course includes tactics and battle training.
