Everton FC Shows Support For Veterans

There are plenty of football fans in the military so it makes sense that the two communities get together to work for the benefit of veterans.

A new support group for ex-service men and women has been launched with the support of Everton Football Club.

Everton In The Community will offer football, volunteering and employment opportunities backed up by weekly coffee sessions.

Everton's captain Phil Jagielka, was at the launch showing his support for the group.

The Royal British Legion has awarded the veteran scheme nearly £40,000 to help at least 150 veterans over the next year. The Royal British Legion's Mandy Sutton said:

"That could be support from face to face help, from group activities, to physical and mental health interventions to sign posting to lots of other protects within the area that can bring these veterans together."
