Former Paralympian On 'Coming Home'

Para athlete Derek Derenalagi lost both his legs in an IED blast in Afganistan in July 2007, and at one stage was thought to have died of his injuries.

But he made a miraculous recovery and went on to compete in the Men's Discus Throw at the 2012 London Paralympics.

He's been talking to Forces TV about the latest initiative to support the "Coming Home" campaign, which helps injured ex-servicemen and women adapt to their homes after they have been through rehab.
"It's quite difficult," he said, "for an injured serviceman or woman after rehab to go back and try to run around [trying to adapt to] their houses. So with the Coming Home campaign, they take that workload from an injured serviceman or woman so [they] can just focus on rehab".
Coming Home was first launched in 2011.

It was set up by the Haig Housing Trust, and given the support of David Cameron, Liam Fox, and General Lord Dannatt, founder of Help for Heroes.

Coming Home's remit is to help service personnel whose lives have been drastically altered after being seriously injured in Iraq or Afghanistan.
