German Monitoring Specialists Operating In Baltics

Just as Britain has played a key role in policing Baltic skies for NATO, now it's the turn of the German Air Force.

Operation Persistent Presence has seen it set up a Tactical Air Command to monitor the Baltic skies, identifying and tracking flights.

Its specialist equipment is being integrated into Baltnet, a radar network operated by the militaries of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia (the Baltic states).

The Germans are helping direct NATO jets in an airspace that has suffered increasing amounts of Russian incursions in recent years.
