Injured Personnel To Fight On After Setback

A team of injured ex-service personnel have vowed to come back stronger after suffering a setback in the latest part of a huge challenge.

The 'Adaptive Grand Slam' team were forced to turn back before reaching the summit of the highest mountain in the Western and Southern Hemisphere, Aconcagua.

The decision to descend was made after the area was hit by some of the worst weather seen in that part of Argentina in decades.

But they're determined not to let that stop them, and have pencilled in their next attempt at scaling the mountain for January 2017 - after they've reached the top of Everest and Carstensz Pyramid in Indonesia.

The climb was part of an attempt to summit the highest peak on every continent and walk to both Poles.

Only 11 people have completed the feat, which has become known as the 'Explorers Grand Slam' - meaning more people have walked on the Moon.

If the Adaptive Grand Slam team conquer the challenge, they'll become the first disabled people to do so, and will have broken four World Records in the process.
