Marines Let Loose On New Urban Training Centre

Royal Marines from 40 Commando were among the first troops to use a newly refurbished training camp on Salisbury Plain.

£2.4 million has been spent upgrading New Zealand Farm Camp which now brings it into line with modern day and future training requirements.

Set in the heart of Salisbury Plain it’s the biggest single investment in a training camp since the late 1980's.

The camp can be used as a forward operating base or to replicate a terrorist camp.

It has secret doorways and hidden rooms set to test even the more experienced combat soldiers.

While the camp is mainly used by the forces, other organisations, including the police, fire service and other military partners, can also train there.

New Zealand Farm Camp has been completely revamped. Gone are the Second World War buildings. In their place: a state-of-the-art urban warfare testing facility.
