King's Gurkha Artillery welcomes first batch of gunners to its ranks fresh from training

The beret parade marked a defining moment for personnel in the newest Gurkha unit

In January last year, the first Gurkha unit to be formed in over a decade was announced: the King's Gurkha Artillery.

By July, the regiment had already welcomed its first members, who transferred from existing Gurkha units to undertake an intensive conversion course that would retrain them as gunners.

And the unit has now received its first batch of brand new KGA soldiers.

For these soldiers, now having completed their training, it marks a defining moment as they become the first gunners to arrive from the Infantry Training Centre in Catterick.

This means they are now ready to play an integral role in exercises and operations both in the United Kingdom and overseas.

In the video above, BFBS Forces News follows the newest intake of gunners as they receive their new berets and cap badges – and formally swear allegiance to their new company and colours.
