Parade Marks 200 Years Of Gurkha Service To Crown
The Brigade of Gurkhas have marked 200 years of service to the British Army with a parade through the streets of central London.
The march began at Wellington Barracks, continued down the Mall and ended at the the Gurkha Memorial in Whitehall.
During the march the brigade carried the Queen's Truncheon, a bronze and silver ceremonial staff awarded to the 2nd Gurkhas by Queen Victoria in recognition of its loyalty during the Indian Mutiny of 1857.
The parade comes as the number of deaths continues to rise in the Gurkha's homeland of Nepal following Saturday's earthquake.
