Serving Soldier Killed While Walking with Husband

A serving soldier has been killed after a generator fell from the back of a lorry and crushed her while she walked with her husband.
40-year-old Emma Beeney was said to be walking her dog with husband Rob when she was crushed in Etchingham, East Sussex early on Monday morning.
The Army warrant officer, who was based in Andover, Hampshire was reportedly on leave.
Mr Beeney is said to be in a stable condition in Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton after suffering serious injuries in the incident.
Flowers have been left at the scene.
Emergency services were called to Etchingham High Street just before 7am yesterday morning.
Eyewitnesses told the Kent and Sussex Courier that one man had to leap the church wall to avoid the falling generator.
The generator came loose from the rear of the Ford Transit Flat Bed lorry near the level crossing.
An Army spokesman said:
“We can confirm that a serving soldier has died following an accident while off-duty. Sussex Police are investigating.”
An Ashford man, 42, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
