Tunisian PM: "NATO Actions Left My Country Vulnerable To IS"
Tunisia's Prime Minister says NATO actions caused his country to become vulnerable to Islamic State.
Habib Essid says the 2011 intervention in neighbouring Libya, which resulted in the overthrowing of Colonel Gaddafi, destabilised the country and left Tunisia's borders exposed. He told the Independent newspaper:
"We consider that the current situation is the result of the 2011 intervention, which created chaos."
Mr Essid also spoke about the possibility of military intervention in Libya, should the rival factions there form a single unity government. He said:
"We have not been informed of [the possibility of intervention]. We are against all military intervention in Libya.
"The solution must be a political solution."
