
US Airman Killed After Norfolk Crash

A US airman stationed at RAF Lakenheath has been killed in a traffic collision.
The airman, who was assigned to the 748th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, died on Thursday after the incident in Weeting, Norfolk.
Local news reports have stated that the crash happened on the B1106 Lynn Road at about 6.40am, when a BMW convertible travelling towards Weeting left the carriageway and collided with a tree.
Emergency services are said to have arrived shortly after the incident, but the serviceman, who was in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Col Evan Pettus, 48th Fighter Wing commander, from RAF Lakenheath, said on behalf of the squadron:
"The Liberty Wing mourns the passing of one of its own today."
"We're sad to report that one of our 748 AMXS Airmen died in a car crash Thursday morning on the B1112 near Weeting.
"When a tragedy like this strikes, it’s felt throughout our entire community. Our sympathies and prayers are with this airman's friends, family and fellow wingmen in the 748th AMXS."
People who may have information regarding the incident or witnessed the collision have been urged to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Wymondham on 101.
