US Military Naked Photo Scandal Widens

Service personnel from all parts of the US military have reportedly been sharing naked photos of their female colleagues.

The BBC found an online message board where the pictures were being shared just days after reports of a Facebook site where thousands of US Marines were sharing images.

The board on the hosting website Anon-IB allegedly has posts showing female service members fully clothed, asking for any images of them nude. They refer to the nude images as "wins".

The posts sometimes provide names and details of the women, including where they were stationed and, the BBC says, often have lewd comments accompanying them.

The news comes after the Facebook group 'Marines United' was closed following a similar scandal where Marines were sharing naked images of their colleagues. The page had more than 30,000 members.

The Commandant of the US Marine Corps, General Robert B Neller, spoke out against the page, saying:

"If you can't or are unwilling to commit to contributing 100% to our Corps' warfighting ability by being a good teammate and improving cohesion and trust then I have to ask you, "Do you really want to be a Marine?"

Hundreds of Marines are reportedly being investigated over the images, some of which appear to have been taken without consent.

It's believed at least one government contractor has been removed from his job after posting a link to the photographs.
