Chelsea Pensioner Alan Rutter Takes Part In Sponsored Bungee Jump

Rather than a casual trip to the seaside for the bank holiday weekend, this Chelsea pensioner took some leisurely time out to bungee jump off a crane, all in the name of charity.

Alan Rutter, an Army veteran who served over 20 years in the Queen's Regiment was cheered on by close family and friends as he made the jump in his trademark red coat.

The 67-year-old managed to raise around £1,500 for the Royal Hospital Chelsea Appeal.

The Royal Hospital was founded by King Charles II in 1682 as a retreat for veterans, and functions as a home to all those who have served in the Armed Forces at some point in their lives.

Alan has contributed to charitable causes since leaving the Army by helping people with disabilities for 35 years.

“I feel really good and it was very exciting” Alan said afterwards.

“I felt as if I had no control though, I have done parachute jumps in the past and you have some control but with the jump you have none whatsoever.”
