Personnel taking part in the rehearsal included both experienced ceremonial soldiers and those new to the role, all of whom contributed to maintaining the exacting standards expected of the Household Division

The King's Company, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards will Troop their Colour in the presence of His Majesty The King on Saturday 13 June

Taking part will be over 1,350 soldiers of the Household Division and King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, including more than 300 musicians from the Massed Bands

The Bands of the Household Division work persistently to uphold that reputation of excellence and in the service of His Majesty The King

Trooping the Colour will also include 250 service personnel who will line the processional route along The Mall

The ceremony of Trooping the Colour is believed to have been first performed during the reign of King Charles II, who was Monarch from 1660 to 1685

In 1748 it was decided that this parade would be used to mark the official birthday of the Sovereign. It became an annual event after George III became King in 1760

Guards taking part are drawn from the regiments of the Sovereign's Household Troops

It has become the practice for regiments of Foot Guards to troop their Colour in turn

The rehearsal took place at Army Training Centre (ATC) Pirbright, which is about 30 miles west of London, close to the towns of Aldershot and Guildford

In addition to the soldiers who are being trained there, the base offers good facilities for visiting units,, reservists and cadet forces

Members of the Household Division have been carrying out a rehearsal for Trooping the Colour at Pirbright, as preparations continue for one of the nation's most iconic ceremonial events.

The rehearsal brought together soldiers from across the Foot Guards who demonstrated exceptional precision, discipline and professionalism throughout the exercise.

Conducted on open training ground, the rehearsal reproduced the format and sequencing of the official parade, ensuring all elements were refined ahead of the main event.

A centuries-old tradition

Trooping the Colour, which marks the Sovereign's official birthday, is steeped in centuries of tradition and remains a cornerstone of British military ceremonial.

His Majesty's actual birthday is 14 November, while the ceremony of Trooping the Colour this year falls on Saturday 13 June.

The rehearsal at the Surrey base provided an opportunity for soldiers to practise complex drill movements, musical coordination and mounted manoeuvres in a controlled environment.
