Army shooting team sets sights on honing next generation of Olympic hopefuls
Soldiers from across the British Army have been testing their skills in the latest Troops 2 Target talent ID day in Bisley as the Army searches for its next generation of Olympic shooters.
Launched in the wake of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the Troops 2 Target scheme is an initiative designed to identify servicemen and women who have what it takes to compete at the highest level.
As the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris fast approaches, interest in Olympic sports like shooting will once again gain traction.
And with schemes such as Troops 2 Target, the Army hopes to find the next generation of shooting talent among its ranks.
Now in its tenth season, the Troops 2 Target programme has reaped its rewards with half a dozen Army athletes regularly making appearances on the international stage, making it a forces sporting success story.
Troops 2 Target talent days will run throughout the year with the next event scheduled for later in the spring.
