RAF cross country running kicks off season with the 2024 Sir Sefton Brancker Trophy

Watch: RAF cross country runners compete in this year's Sir Sefton Brancker Trophy at RAF Halton

Cross country runners from across the Royal Air Force have kicked off their season at the 92nd Sir Sefton Brancker Trophy at RAF Halton.

With several of the RAF's top runners not participating in this year's event, those who did enter faced stiff competition from top runners from the Civil Service, the police and for the first time in several years, the fire service.

The Civil Service dominated both the men's and women's races, with Jack Millar winning his second consecutive title in the men's race and Natasha Sheel running home with the women's title.

The event is named after Air Vice Marshal Sir William Sefton Brancker, who was a senior officer in the Royal Flying Corps and one of the founders of the Royal Air Force.
