Army boxers team up with England boxers for a two day training camp
The British Army Boxing Team have hosted the England Boxing Team at their headquarters in Aldershot for a two-day training camp.
Home to some of the best world-class boxing facilities, the Army Boxing Team's base in Aldershot have built their reputation as one of the best boxing outfits in the UK.
It was the perfect place for Forces fighters and England national team members to work together and to get into the ring for several sparring sessions.
Lead National Coach for England Boxing, Amanda Coulson, travelled with the England team to Aldershot to get the most out of the Army's training facilities.
A former four-time national champion and European silver medallist herself, Coulson was impressed by the "awesome" facilities.
She said: "Firstly, the facilities are outstanding, so this is a great, great establishment.
"The funds that have gone into this, keep them coming in because this is awesome and if we can continue to come with this standard, then we will.
"At the end of the day, we are all going to get the benefits of that, it is a great relationship that we are building and it's something that I am looking forward to continuing in the near future."
The Army welcomed the opportunity to spar with some of the best boxers in England as they begin their push for the up and coming Inter Services.
Army Boxing Team Head Coach, Staff Sergeant Shade Sadler, says that the two-day training camp has been "perfect timing" for the entire team.
He said: "Perfect timing, perfect preparation, we are working with England, and we are off to Scotland for a training camp and then we couldn't wish for a better preparation.
"We are a professional outfit, the facilities and everything we have got involved, we are just trying to be appreciative of everything we've got and it's a brilliant experience to try and showcase it to the England Team."
England National Team member, Megan Morris, is one of the England boxers to have travelled to Aldershot.
Due to travel with the England team to Germany in a few weeks, her sparring session from the Army's Lily Devlin was an ideal work out partner before her upcoming trip.
She said: "I've sparred Lily once, she's a nice girl and you can tell that they have put one hundred and ten percent into everything because people like myself, I still have to work full time, or I have other commitments.
"You don't have that all day every day for just a sport and they do, which is the luck about being in the Army."
