Moving on: Royal Marine George Crotty steps back from GB Boxing selection

Royal Marines boxer George Crotty has announced he is stepping away from GB Boxing contention after seven years with the team.
During his time, Marine Crotty won gold medals at international competitions in Finland and Hungary as well as appearing at major competitions such as the Eindhoven Box Cup, the Algarve Box Cup and the World Boxing Cup.
It was hoped that Crotty would be considered for selection for the 2024 Paris Olympics but he missed out on the games.

In a statement on his Instagram page, Crotty wrote: "After 7 years, 50+ fights and 7 gold medals, it's time to move on from GB Boxing and start the next chapter in my boxing career.
"The best 7 years of my boxing career, great memories travelling the world and meeting people I'll be mates with for the rest of my life.
"Big thanks to the GB coaching and support team in Sheffield and also a massive thanks to the Royal Marines and Royal Navy for giving me the opportunity because if it wasn't for them none of this would have happened."
Crotty is a two-time Royal Navy Sportsman of the Year after winning in 2017 and 2021.
