Sailors take on civvies in exciting night of boxing at HMNB Clyde

Watch: Highlights from the night of boxing at HMNB Clyde

Sailors in Scotland were treated to an exciting night of action in the ring with the Royal Navy Northern Region Boxing Show at HMNB Clyde.

Talented amateur boxers from across Scotland pitted their wits and skills against the fighters from the Navy.

Leading Hand Roan Price was up against Joshua Connor of Lochee Amateur Boxing Club in Dundee.

The pair fought hard over the three rounds, but Leading Hand Price was edged out on a split decision in the end.

Leading Hand Kieran Reilly took on Kyle Hossack of Chirnside Amateur Boxing Club in Berwickshire.

Hossack's reach proved too much for Leading Hand Reilly and it was the man from the borders who took the win.

Lieutenant Ben Grant was last up for the Navy, facing Martin Kerr of Johnstone Amateur Boxing Club in Renfrewshire.

Despite a display that saw him named the night's most gallant boxer, it was another win for the civvies and for Kerr.

While the results didn not go the Navy's way – it was a night that every fighter – both sailor and civilian - left the base with their head held high.
