Team GB retains Simpson Cup with second consecutive tie after thrilling comeback
The British team has retained the Simpson Cup golf trophy after a singles surge helped them to tie their matches with their US counterparts.
The Ryder Cup-style golf tournament is for wounded, injured and sick veterans of the British and United States military.
The Americans were 4-2 up after the first day, having come out on top in the fourballs at Shinnecock Hills, New York.
Team GB then came back impressively in the singles on day two, winning seven of their 13 matches, including dominant victories for Chris Paterson (8 and 6) and rookie Vikrant Gurung (7 and 6).

Their singles performance hauled their score up to 9.5-9.5, which, remarkably, mirrors the result in 2023.
It adds to an impressive overall singles record – 73.5 to 62.5 ahead of this year's face-offs.
Team GB skipper Andy Stevens said: "What a finish, and what a turnaround! It has been the ultimate honour to lead this group of men.
"After a difficult day yesterday, and then some red on the board early doors this morning, some may have been inclined to write us off.
"But the lads hung in there, and showed great determination to bring home this wonderful trophy."
He added: "A big congratulations to John [opposing captain John Goudie] and his team for putting on such a great display.
"It's been an incredible week, and I suspect it's going to be a good night of celebrations too!"
They are the only occasions on which the Simpson Cup has ended in a tie and means Team GB retain the trophy they won in 2022.
With the series in a six-all deadlock, the 2025 host will be Royal St George's and Princes Golf Clubs.
